Bhubaneswar: Maintaining that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s silence was more painful than Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy’s derogatory remarks against women, the BJP Mahila Morcha today decided to gherao Naveen Niwas, the resident of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday.
“Despite over appeals and even protests the Chief Minister is behaving like a mute spectator. It very unfortunate that when one of his senior Cabinet Ministers is making derogatory remarks against woman, the Chief Minister is maintaining silence,” said BJP Mahila Morcha president Prabhati Parida in a press conference here.
She said, “The Chief Minister’s silence is giving more pain to them than Maharathy’s derogatory remarks against women.”
“We will gherao Naveen Niwas tomorrow and try to meet CM Naveen Patnaik and ask him if he supports the Agriculture Minister on his remarks. If he doesn’t support Maharathy, he must expel him,” said Parida.
Maharathy is in the eye of storm after a video went viral purportedly showing him making derogatory remarks against the women since last week.
The video which has since gone viral quoted the BJD veteran as saying that 30,000 women have 60,000 husbands each having two husbands.
