Rourkela, February 27: Upgradation project of Rourkela Airport will begin soon. The captive airport of the SAIL will soon be readied for big body airbus operataion round the clock, said Odisha Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari.
Underlining the land acquisition process that’s underway Pujari said on Thursday that, a discussion to acquire land from the Rourkela Steel Plant authorities for the project has already been finalized.
The RSP airport comes under the Transport Department for which it’s a formality to seek its approval. Discussion with the Transport & Commerce Minister has concluded. However, a conclusive meeting will be jointly held with all concerned officials taking the Housing & Urban Development authorities soon for expediting the project, the minister added.
Worth mentioning, Sundargarh MP & Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram, had earlier urged the Odisha Chief Minister to upgrade the RSP’s Airport into a fully commercial airport with the AAI’s nod for 4C CAT 1 IFR operation in view of its industrial potentials and phenomenal growth.
