Bhubaneswar: CBI today took Kolkata-based film producer and distributor Shrikant Mohta on three-day remand for questioning in connection with the Rose Valley chit fund scam.
On January 25, CBI had arrested Mohta, co-founder of Shree Venkatesh Films, from his Kolkata office in connection with the Rose Valley chit fund scam and brought him to Bhubaneswar. On Tuesday, a special CBI court here rejected the bail plea of Mohta.
Sources said Mohta was arrested pertaining to a deal of Rs-24 crore signed between SVF and a Rose Valley group-owned TV channel in 2010.
CBI needed his remand as they wanted to question him on the funding pattern for his films.
Mohta was arrested by the CBI after the Central investigating agency got credible information regarding his links and dubious monetary transactions with Rose Valley chief Gautam Kundu. Kundu is now behind the bars.
