Angul, Ap 10: Panic triggered after a rogue elephant claimed the lives of a mother and her three-year-old daughter in Madhupur village under Angul’s Bantal forest range.
Forest officials have reached the scene and launched an investigation.
The family, residing in Bhukilapal village, had been working at a nearby farmhouse. On Thursday night, they traveled to Madhupur Nuakulasahi for work. While returning near a water tap in Madhupur, the elephant attacked them.
The woman’s husband escaped in a disabled state and ran to alert villagers. By the time locals arrived, the elephant had already killed the mother and child.
Forest department personnel are examining the incident and assessing the presence of rogue elephants in the area, urging residents and travelers in forest-adjacent villages to exercise caution.
