Bhubaneswar, Oct 30: The Special Court in Bhubaneswar has convicted Raghunatha Mallick, the retired Assistant Drugs Controller, in a disproportionate assets (DA) case filed by Odisha Vigilance. The court found Mallick guilty under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income. He was sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹1,00,000.
In response to the conviction, Odisha Vigilance confirmed that it would approach the competent authority to initiate proceedings for the stoppage of Mallick’s pension. Officials emphasized that the ruling highlights their commitment to holding public servants accountable for corruption.
The case, which stemmed from a detailed charge sheet filed by Odisha Vigilance, revealed substantial financial irregularities. The court’s judgment is expected to further fuel the state's anti-corruption efforts and strengthen its push for greater transparency in the public sector.
