Corona is back and this time, with a vengeance. It is being said that, the present strain is multiple times dangerous and spreads faster. It is the opinion of the experts.
But what surprisingly misses from the awareness drive is about, what are the symptoms of the new strain. Without that a common man is left in a confusion. He or she has to remain content with the preventive measures like the masks and other things. And at best one can go for vaccination.
But the vaccination being kept in a selective parameter so far, its availability has become a thing of confusion for many.
Experts speaking through television channels have differing views. Whom to keep in priority and whom not to. Some say that there is a gap between demand and supply.
Some experts can be heard saying that, time has come when the inoculation should be done to all adults, from the age of 18 onwards. While some say that, that might create a situation when, in a population of 130 cr, many elderly people above 50 years may land in a situation of vaccine shortage.
People Will Never Learn!
Now to talk about the people, the flagrant violation of all the precautions can be easily noticeable. Clusters at any place can be seen without the mask, and the barefaced ones almost breathing into each other’s face, let alone physical distancing!
It is almost everywhere. Do we suppose the police or the authorities can be available at every point to make the barefaced mass disciplined ? That is not possible at all.
Vaccine dose taken or not taken, precautions are the major shields to keep the virus spread under a check.
As reported in these columns earlier, the other major catalyst which has, perhaps, helped the Corona to come back at such a dangerous pace, are the election rallies by all the political parties.
In this demanding format, the leaders and the Election Commission must jointly think about a harder recourse.
Let the remaining election campaigns go virtual, everywhere. One life is much more precious than a vote! Hopefully the political parties, including the Prime Minister, should volunteer for the alternative mode of campaign to save thousands of lives. Because strict enforcement of the SOP or Covid guidelines is just impossible in such mammoth gatherings.
It should be, by all means, a televised campaign if more lives to be saved and put a brake on the contamination. Mere rhetoric like ‘ mask pahniye, doorta bajai rakhein’ can be shrill slogans only.
