Berhampur: A delegation of the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights led by its Chairperson Sandhyabati Pradhan today met the 14-year-old girl, who delivered a baby in a Government Residential School in Kandhamal on Saturday, at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here.

The girl is now undergoing treatment at the MKCG while her newborn baby died on Monday. The team members talked to the victim girl and enquired about her health condition and also discussed about her health with the treating doctors.

Notably, a 14-year-old girl, student of Class-VIII, delivered a baby girl in a State-run tribal residential school in Daringibadi in Kandhamal district on January 12. Reportedly, after the delivery, the girl along with her newborn baby was “driven out” of the hostel and forced to take shelter in a nearby jungle.

Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) sent a notice to the Chief Secretary on Monday on the issue and sought a report within four weeks.
