Bhubaneswar: Expressing deep anguish over the incident involving a minor girl delivering a baby in a Government Residential School on Saturday in Kandhamal, a team of BJP members led by party ST cell president Rabi Naik today met Governor Ganeshi Lal demanding action against ST and SC Development Secretary, Director and district Collector.

Naik said that the State Government has utterly failed to provide safety and security to the girl children studying in State-run institutes.

He said that the shameful incident happened due to the negligence of concerned officials starting from Collector, department Director, Secretary and Minister.

Notably, a minor student of a State-run tribal residential school in Kandhamal district delivered a baby girl in her hostel. The 14-year-old girl, a student of Class-VIII, delivered the baby in the school hostel on Saturday night.

The school ‘Seva Ashram High School’ at Daringibadi in Kandhamal district is run by the State Government.

The student and her newborn were admitted to a local hospital, and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur where the newborn died. The condition of the student is stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, at least nine school employees, including the headmistress have been axed.
