Remnants of ancient temple discovered in Suka-Sari complex in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Oct 27: Archaeological Survey of India(ASI) has discovered remnants of ancient temple structures inside Suka-Sari temple complex in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. At the same time, some fine carved arts made up of ancient rocks have been recovered during excavation process. Sources said, an ASI team was undertaking second phase excavation in the premises of the Suka-Sari temple in the morning, in search of era-old treasures. Meanwhile, the upper structure of an ancient temple was discovered under earth in front of the sanctum Sanctorum of the main Suka-Sari temple. {"id":144717,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} Similarly,the basement foundation of another temple was unearthed in the north-east region of the temple during dig out operation by the research officials. Decayed remnants of a number of temple structures are expected to be found around the Suksari temple complex. However, the upper structure of a temple with 40 feet long dimension has been unearthed today, said ASI official Arun Mallik. {"id":144718,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} Excavation is on to unearth other possible structures.On the other hand, further studies on the recent findings is underway to ascertain the timeline and its historical origins,he added. Worth mentioning, a number of ancient statues and art-crafted rocks were discovered around Suksari temple campus earlier, in January.
