Bhubaneswar, July 22: Crucial leads in ACF Saumya Ranjan Mohapatra’s death case has been obtained and all the relevant persons will be questioned in this regard, informed DIG (Southern Range) Satyabrata Bhoi.
Briefing mediapersons, DIG Bhoi said that discussions with Paralekhimundi SP, investigating officer and Crime Branch officials over the case were held today.
“So far, probe agency has made satisfactory progress in the case and we hope everything will be clear soon,” Bhoi said.
The Crime Branch has traced fire-marks in the government residence of the deceased Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra on Thursday.
Sources said a team of Crime Branch, which is conducting the investigation of Paralakhemundi ACF Soumya Ranjan’s suspicious death, left for Gajapati last night.
They visited Soumya’s government quarter in the morning. Subsequently, they opened the room which was sealed by Gajapati Police, where Soumya had been allegedly recovered half-burnt.
In course of the investigation, the team traced out fire stains inside the room. The door of the room was found to be partially burnt. Besides, police have spotted some half-burnt clothes on the floor.
The circumstantial evidence revealed that the mishap had taken place inside the room. ACF Soumya Ranjan might have been charred inside it, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Crime Branch Bijay Kumar Mallik.
