Bhubaneswar, 5 Aug: As another milestone in organ donation and transplantation, Odisha has been conferred with the National Award as Emerging State in Organ Donation.
Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals &Fertilizers while presenting the award congratulated the people of Odisha and the State Government for exemplary performance in the field of organ donation and transplantation.
The award mentioned, Odisha’s “commitment and contribution is commendable and has helped in giving new life to the patients suffering from end-stage organ failure diseases”.
Prof (Dr) UmakantaSatapathy, Additional Director, Medical Education and Training, Dr Bubhuti Bhusan Nayak, Prof in-charge,State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) received the award on behalf of Odisha. It was presented at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi in a special event organisedunder the auspices of National Organ and Tissue Transplantation Organisation, Ministry of Health& Family Welfare, Government of India on the occasion of 15th Indian Organ Donation Day.
