Bhubaneswar, July 22: Ravenshaw University has withdrawn the suspension orders issued against 10 senior students accused of ragging first-year boarders at the East Hostel, following new developments that have cast doubt on the initial allegations.

In an official notice released on Tuesday, the Chief Warden confirmed the revocation of disciplinary action, which had previously directed the third-year undergraduate students to vacate their hostel rooms. The suspension was initially recommended by the university's Anti-Ragging Committee after a preliminary inquiry into alleged verbal harassment that reportedly occurred late Saturday night.

However, the disciplinary move triggered strong backlash from the suspended students, who staged a sit-in protest demanding a fair investigation. They claimed they were penalized without substantial evidence and denied a proper opportunity to present their side.

Adding a twist to the incident, the first-year students who were initially considered victims came forward to deny any ragging had taken place. Speaking to the media, they alleged they were pressured into filing complaints, raising questions about the authenticity of the accusations.
