Ratha Yatra will not be held elsewhere except in Puri : Orissa High Court

Cuttack, June 23: No Ratha Yatra will be held elsewhere except in Shrikshetra, Puri this year. The Orissa High Court has issued an order in this connection on Wednesday. On the other hand, the division bench of the High Court constituted in this regard has rejected the petitions filed by different institutions upholding the decision of the state's Special Relief Commission(SRC) The SRC had issued notifications banning the Ratha Yatra at different places this year. However, a few religious institutions along with some temple's functionaries had filed petitions in the Orissa High Court against the order of the state. They appealed the High Court to allow Ratha Yatra at Kendrapara, Baripada and Nilagiri. Hearing the petitions, a division bench of the High Court issued orders upholding of the decision of the SRC. The order said, Ratha Yatra will only be held at the Shrikshetra Puri. Nowhere else in the state,the festival will be organized during this pandemic.
