Gopalpur, June 28: The annual Rath Yatra was observed with great religious fervor and enthusiasm at the Sigidi Sahi Jagannath Temple in Gopalpur, drawing large crowds of devotees from across the region.

The traditional Chera Pahara ritual, symbolizing humility and service, was performed by Kandha Mahapatra, marking the commencement of the grand chariot procession. Amid the rhythmic beats of drums, clanging of bells, and chants of “Jai Jagannath,” the three deities—Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra—were brought out of the sanctum in a ceremonial Pahandi Bije and installed on their respective chariots.

The deities were then taken in a vibrant procession to the temporary Mausi Maa Temple at Bada Sahi Square, where they will stay for a brief period as part of the festival rituals.

The event was smoothly coordinated under the leadership of the temple committee, with active participation from Chairman M. Potana, Secretary Harihara Sahu, and members Binod Dash, Gandu Patra, Panchu Behera, A. Janaki Ram, and M. Chandra Shekhar.

Priests Lakshman Panda and Jagannath Dash conducted the rituals and offerings. To ensure public safety and maintain order during the procession, Gopalpur Police were deployed in adequate numbers and effectively managed the large gathering of devotees.

The event concluded peacefully, with devotees expressing deep spiritual satisfaction and joy.
