Puri, July 22: Adhara Pana, a special sweet drink was offered to Lord Balabhdra, Lord Jagannath and Goddess Subhadra of their respective chariots from nine cylindrical earthen pots reaching up to the lips of the deities.
The sweet, aromatic and syrupy drink made of a mixture of milk, molasses, honey, cheese, banana, camphor, nutmeg and black pepper among others are offered before Lord Jagannath and his Siblings.
The servitors offer the drink in nine different pitchers on the three chariots. The siblings sip it with pleasure and offer the side deities who accompanied them in the Chariots.
As per the tradition, Adhar Pana is prepared in Raghabdas Mutt with nine ingredients, cheese and cream. Before entering the temple, the deities would be offered Rasagolla bhog on the chariots.
After the Adhara Pana ritual, Niladri Bije, the return of the deities to Srimandir will be held tomorrow to mark the conclusion of the nearly two-week long festival.
