Rare fish in Digha sells for Rs 33 Lakh, attracting tourists

Digha, June 19: In a remarkable catch off the coast of Digha, West Bengal, fishermen have netted a rare species of fish, the Telia Bhola, with each weighing over 20 kilograms. The 29 fish were sold at a local auction for an astonishing Rs 33 lakh, drawing the attention of both locals and tourists as well.

 

Fishermen from the region often venture deep into the sea to catch fish, and fisherman Nani Gopal made this particular haul. The 29 Telia Bhola fish were caught using a trawler and brought to the Digha auction center for sale.

 

These fish are prized for their medicinal properties. They are also in high demand internationally, with exports contributing to the growing market.

 

The fish's rarity and high value have made it a popular catch, leading to increased demand. Tourists flocked to the area to witness the sale and admire the giant catches, contributing to the bustling atmosphere around Digha's coast.
