Baripada, February 23: The special POCSO court Mayurbhanj on Saturday sentenced 25 years RI to a 63-year-old man who was convicted on the charges of reape of a minor girl.
SDJM & POCSO Judge Pratima Patro also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the convict and additional imprisonment incase the fine remains unpaid.
Pronouncing the judgement on the heinous rape case, the court also ordered Rs 7 lakh compensation to the survivor.
As per the case record, a 14-year-old girl was forcefully raped and frequently threatened by the convict. Acting on a complaint, he was lodged in jail in 2022 by the police.
