Ujjain, Aug 27: Raksha Bandhan celebrations at the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain are set to be grand and unique this year, with devotees preparing a 2-foot-long rakhi for Lord Mahakal and planning to offer 1.5 lakh laddus as bhog.

Devotees consider Lord Mahakal as a member of their family and as their brother, and observe Raksha Bandhan by offering him a rakhi and seeking his blessings for the happiness, peace and protection of their families and society.

As part of this year’s celebrations, the giant rakhi will be ceremonially offered to Lord Mahakal during the festival.

The special offering of around 1.5 lakh laddus will add to the grandeur of the occasion. Following the religious rituals, the prasad is expected to be distributed among devotees.

The unique combination of devotion and tradition is expected to draw a large number of devotees to Ujjain from different parts of the country.

The temple town is likely to witness a festive atmosphere filled with faith and spiritual fervour.

The 2-foot rakhi and massive laddu offering are set to make this year’s Raksha Bandhan celebration at the Mahakal Temple particularly memorable.
