Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s former rugby player Rajeev Kumar Nath has been selected as the assistant coach for the Kolkata Banga Tigers (KBT) for the upcoming second season of the Rugby Premier League (RPL). Nath makes history as the only coach from Odisha to be drafted into the prestigious league, where he will work alongside renowned Head Coach Mike Friday.
This appointment solidifies his status as a premier technical mind in Indian rugby, bringing over 20 years of decorated experience as both an elite athlete and educator. The second season of the HSBC Rugby Premier League is scheduled to take place at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad from June 16 to June 28, 2026.The tournament featured a total of 6 men’s teams and, for the first time in history, 4 women’s teams.
