Bhubaneswar: While tension still prevailing at Raghunathnagar bazaar, the Khandagri police took away as many as 50 persons from their houses for attacking police personnel during a group fight between two villages, Raghunathnagar and Sarakantara, on the city outskirts here Monday.
The Police had earlier arrested Agni Sarangi, his brother Akash and Balia, for hurling bombs at two shops at Raghunathnagar bazaar.
According to reports, as many as five platoons of police force have still been deployed and the bazaar has remain closed today.
Earlier on Monday night, tension broke out after villagers of Raghunath Nagar beat up Agni severely following a quarrel and, on being informed, the Khandagiri police rescued him. While the police released Agni after treatment, tension escalated in the area. Agni and his associates hurled bombs at two shops at Raghunathnagar bazaar.
Irate over the incident, locals of Raghunathnagar blocked the Dumduma-Bhubaneswar road and also scuffled with police personnel. Four police personnel, including Khandagiri IIC, sustained injuries as agitators pelted stones at them. They also ransacked a PCR Van.
