Puri, Aug 8: Dining inside an aircraft without taking a flight will soon become a reality in Puri, as an unusual airplane-themed restaurant is set to open along the Puri-Brahmagiri highway.
The restaurant will be designed inside a retired aircraft, giving visitors the experience of dining inside a real airplane. For the project, an unused Airbus A320 arrived in Puri on Friday, transported on a large cargo vehicle. The sight of the aircraft being moved through the city attracted considerable attention, with locals and tourists stopping to click photographs and record videos.
The aircraft has currently been placed near Shree Setu Square, where it has become a temporary attraction for residents and visitors.
The restaurant is being developed by Delhi-based Moni G Enterprises. According to company director Yashvinder Singh, the company purchases retired aircraft from airlines and converts them into restaurants, offices and other commercial spaces.
The Airbus A320 brought to Puri had operated for around 20 years before being retired. The company subsequently purchased it from Air India for conversion into a restaurant.
The company has already established more than 30 such aircraft-themed restaurants across the country. This will be its first project in Odisha, with Puri chosen as the location.
The proposed restaurant will be located around 3–4 km from Shree Setu and is expected to accommodate around 80 diners at a time. Customers will be offered both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.
The company plans to complete the project and open the restaurant within four months.
The unique attraction is expected to provide tourists visiting Puri with a new leisure and dining experience, adding another attraction to the city’s growing tourism landscape.
