Puri, August 18: A shocking incident was reported from Ganeshwarpur village under Gop police station limits in Puri district on Tuesday, where a youth allegedly attacked his parents with a knife and later assaulted police personnel who arrived to apprehend him.

According to reports, Bikram Rath, the only son of Ganeshwarpur resident Ramachandra Rath, allegedly attacked his father with a knife in the morning. He subsequently attacked his mother, leaving both seriously injured. They were rescued and admitted to Gop Medical Centre for treatment.

On receiving information, a team from Gop police station reached the village and attempted to take Bikram into custody. However, the youth allegedly attacked the police personnel with the knife. Three police personnel were reportedly injured in the attack.

The accused later locked himself inside a room while holding the knife. Police, along with local fire service personnel, launched efforts to overpower and apprehend him.

The incident triggered tension in the village, with police continuing their efforts to bring the situation under control.
