Puri, April 27: Bhubaneswar MP Aparjita Sarangi visited Puri on Wednesday despite being detained for a brief period by police in Chandanpur as the district administration had suspended a ‘pada jatra’ programme to be held in the pilgrim town. However, she was obstructed near Malatipatapur by the district admission following which Sarangi decided to have darshan of the Trinity by walking on foot." If Odisha government is on right path, why is it so afraid? Permission was not sought for ‘Padyatra’. No permission is required for darshan of Lord Jagannath, says Sarangi. “I have full respect for the administrative officials. No untoward incident will happen under proper law and order. The administration has nothing to be afraid of. Let me be allowed to have darshan of Lord Jagannath by walking on foot, added the BJP leader.” Meanwhile, the leader slammed Odisha government for the unlawful digging activities around Srimandir without taking permission from Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). “The administration has dug around 30-ft holes around the temple war. Nobody has any clue about the proposed construction activities and the purpose behind digging the wall which is posing as a threat to the 12th century shrine. Even Puri MP Pinaki Mishra is in dark about the proposed renovation,” alleged Sarangi. “When the MP of Puri has no clue about the construction work, how the common people of Odisha will know about it. All the Odia have the right and responsibility for the safety and security of Srimandir and the government is answerable to them,” said Sarangi.
