Bhubaneswar, December 1: As the much-awaited Navy Day celebrations approach, the Indian Navy has extended a special invitation to Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb for the event, set to take place on December 4.
In keeping with tradition, senior Navy officials visited the royal residence of the Puri Gajapati Maharaja to personally invite him to the prestigious event, which will also be attended by President Droupadi Murmu.
Preparations for the grand celebrations are in full swing, with the Puri coastline transforming into a vibrant military display. On Saturday, beachgoers were treated to a series of Navy rehearsal exercises, including the roar of warships, the dazzling aerobatic performances of fighter jets, and the coordinated maneuvers of helicopters.
The day also featured live demonstrations of tactical operations by the Navy and paratroopers on Blue Flag Beach, drawing the attention of both locals and tourists.
Navy Day, celebrated annually on December 4, commemorates India's victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, while also honoring the Navy's courage and achievements. This year’s celebration marks the first time the event will be hosted in Odisha.
Reports suggest that the Navy Day festivities in Puri will highlight the Indian Navy’s preparedness to defend against external threats. The event will include thrilling fighter jet flybys, warship displays, and performances by the Navy’s musical band, which will perform patriotic tunes.
