Pullela Gopichand reviews progress of Badminton High Performance Centre

Bhubaneswar, Nov 27: Indian Badminton coach Pullela Gopichand accompanied by officials of Dalmia Bharat Group, Odisha Badminton Association and Sports and Youth Services Department visited Kalinga Stadium and reviewed the progress of the Badminton High Performance Centre which is coming up within the Stadium premises. Once completed it will be an iconic and massive sports infrastructure in the State and a world-class academy for shuttlers of the country. The project which got initially delayed due to the Covid pandemic has picked up momentum and the construction will be completed by mid 2022. With an investment of Rs 45 crore, this facility with as many as eight courts will be equipped with all latest sports amenities and facilities. There will be boarding and lodging facility for 40 players and 8 coaches. Further, with a sitting capacity of about 500 spectators, the centre will be capable of hosting both national and international events in the future.
