Koraput, April 8: A clash between public and police broke out in Kotia over Andhra Pradesh sponsored election at Neredibalsa village today. Villagers of Neredibalsa and Tadibalsa violated the Section 144 imposed by Koraput District Administration to participate in the Zilla Parishad and Mandal poll conducted by Andhra Pradesh. Sources said, Andhra was conducting Zilla Parishad and Mandal election in several villages of Kotia area today. Neredibalsa was chosen as the polling booth for 1219 voters of Neredibalsa and Tadibalsa. Accordingly, a group of voters marched towards the polling booth to cast their votes at around 8 a.m. Odisha police opposed the voters on their way to the polling station. However, some villagers of Tadibalsa and Neredibalsa insisted to vote for Andhra Pradesh. Following which, an oral spat turned into a clash between police and public near the polling booth at Neredibalsa. However, police managed to maintain law and order at the spot to refrain people from the Andhra sponsored election. Despite all precautionary measures and imposition of Section 144 in the 21 villages of Kotia since yesterday in order to keep people away from the election, at least 12 voters from Kotia took part in voting.
