Agra, April 23: On his official visit to India, US Vice President JD Vance condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and offered condolences to the victims. “We’re providing whatever assistance we can to the government and people of India,” Vance told the media on Wednesday, reiterating US support in the fight against terrorism.
Vance confirmed President Donald Trump had spoken to PM Narendra Modi, and added he would also be speaking with the Indian Prime Minister. Earlier, Vance posted on X expressing grief over the attack and admiration for the people of India during his visit.
US President Trump had strongly condemned the “Islamist terror attack” and assured Modi of full American support. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz also echoed support, calling the attack a “terrible tragedy.”
The Pahalgam attack marks one of the deadliest incidents since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. Security operations are ongoing, with heightened vigilance in the region.
