Private nursing home sealed in Cuttack for deploying broker to lure patients from SCB Hospital

Cuttack, April 5: Mangalabag police on Monday sealed Annapurna Nursing Home located near Ring Road under its jurisdiction for luring patients from SCB Hospital deploying brokers. According police, a patient from Jharkhand had come to the SCB Hospital for treatment. But a broker lured the patient to get admitted at the private nursing home. The woman patient was admitted to the ICU of the hospital. Her family members suspected when the management demanded more money. Later, they filed a complaint at Mangalabag police station. During investigation, police found that the patient had breathed her last. However, the management was forcing the family members to deposit money for her treatment. Police also revealed that the patient was taken to the nursing home from SCB Hospital through a broker. On being informed, the health department officials reached the nursing home and conducted a raid. They sealed it and shifted the admitted patients to SCB Hospital with help of the police.
