Prime Video has released the first-look photos of ‘Every Year After’, the upcoming television adaptation of Carley Fortune’s bestselling novel ‘Every Summer After’. The series is set to premiere on June 10 and will feature an eight-episode season.
Sadie Soverall (Saltburn) and Matt Cornett (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) will play the lead roles of Percy and Sam, respectively. The cast also includes Aurora Perrineau (Kaos) as Chantal, Abigail Cowen (Fate: The Winx Saga) as Delilah, Michael Bradway (Chicago Fire) as Charlie, and Joseph Chiu (Fear Street: Prom Queen) as Jordie. Elisha Cuthbert (Girl Next Door, Happy Endings) will recur as Sam’s mother, Sue Florek, according to Deadline.
Originally, Leila Gerstein, creator of Hart of Dixie and Saint X, was attached to write the adaptation and serve as showrunner. However, it was later announced that Amy B. Harris will now serve as showrunner and executive producer, with Carley Fortune executive producing alongside Lindsey Liberatore, Amy Rardin, John Stephens, and Grace Gilroy. Julie Rottenberg and Elisa Zuritsky (Sex and the City, And Just Like That) are on board as writers and consulting producers.
Set over six years in the lakeside town of Barry’s Bay, Every Year After follows the evolving relationship between Persephone “Percy” Fraser and Sam, exploring the seasons of their love story. The series promises a romantic and nostalgic journey, examining the people and choices that shape our lives, while posing the question: what if your first love really was your soulmate?
Carley Fortune, who has published four books to date, continues to expand the Barry’s Bay universe. Following Every Summer After, she released Meet Me at the Lake (2023) and This Summer Will Be Different (2024). Her 2025 novel, One Golden Summer, loosely connects to Every Summer After, exploring the love story of Sam’s brother Charlie. Fortune’s next standalone novel, Our Perfect Storm, is slated for release on May 5, 2026.
