Balangir, Nov 3: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi today highlighted the neglect of Balangir district under the previous BJD government led by Naveen Patnaik.
Speaking at a press conference during his two-day visit to the area, Majhi said that his administration has launched several projects totaling Rs 890 crore aimed at fostering comprehensive development in western Odisha.
“While there was no lack of leadership, there was a significant absence of developmental initiatives. Our new government is committed to welfare projects worth Rs 890 crore that will enhance the district's progress,” Majhi said.
He further said work on the Tusura airstrip is set to begin, and the Khurda-Balangir railway project will soon be completed.
Majhi assured that Balangir would be a top priority for his government, supported by Deputy CM K V Singhdeo and Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, both of whom represent local constituencies.
“With this ‘triple engine’ government in place, we are focused on the district's development,” he stated.
“We are implementing measures to improve irrigation, including check dams, deep borewells, piped drinking water, and enhanced road and health infrastructure,” he added.
