Bhubaneswar: President Ram Nath Kovind will lay foundation stone of the Paika Rebellion Memorial in Khurda to commemorate the 200 years of the uprising of the ‘Paikas’ and also attend the valedictory ceremony of the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Utkal University here today.
The President will visit Barunei by Indian Air Force (IAF) chopper where he will lay foundation stone of the Paika memorial at 10:35 am and later grace valedictory ceremony of the platinum jubilee celebrations of Utkal University at 12:30 pm in the university campus here. He will leave for New Delhi in the afternoon.
On Saturday evening, the President, accompanied by First Lady Sabita Kovind, arrived here on a two-day visit to the State.
The President was received at the Biju Patnaik International Airport by Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal, Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The President and the First Lady were taken to Raj Bhavan where they spent the night. Elaborate security arrangements have been made in view of the visit of the President.
