New Delhi, June 23: President Droupadi Murmu will confer 65 Padma Awards at the second Civil Investiture Ceremony to be held this evening at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

According to an official statement, the awards to be presented include two Padma Vibhushan, seven Padma Bhushan and 56 Padma Shri honours. Among the prominent recipients are tennis legend Vijay Amritraj, veteran actor Mammootty, renowned playback singer Alka Yagnik and Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma.

The Padma Awards, among India's highest civilian honours, are conferred in three categories — Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. The awards recognise distinguished and exceptional achievements across a wide range of fields, including art, literature, education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, trade and industry, and civil services.

The Government had announced the Padma Awards 2026 on the eve of Republic Day. This year, a total of 131 awards were announced, comprising five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri awards.

Of the total awardees, 19 are women, while 16 individuals have been selected for the honour posthumously.

Instituted in 1954, the Padma Awards are announced annually on the occasion of Republic Day and celebrate individuals who have made outstanding contributions in their respective fields.
