Bhubaneswar, Oct 25: President Droupadi Murmu’s proposed visit to Odisha has been postponed by eight days in view of the possibility of a cyclone. Instead of October 28 and 29, the President will now visit the state on November 4 and 5, according to a letter issued by the Tour Section of the President’s Secretariat.
As per the revised itinerary, President Murmu will arrive in Odisha via Kalaikunda in West Bengal. On November 4, she is scheduled to land at Dandbose Airport in an Indian Air Force helicopter. From there, she will travel by road to the Maa Kichakeswari Temple at Bahalda to offer prayers.
Her itinerary also includes visits to Lakshmimandap in Mahuldiha and her residence in Rairangpur. She is subsequently scheduled to visit the Rairangpur Sub-Divisional Hospital, Kacheri Ground and the Holiday Home.
On November 5, the President will visit the Rairangpur Sports Complex, Vikas Nagar, the Multi-Skill Development Centre at Gorumahisani Iron College and the Town Hall before returning to Dandbose Airport for her departure.
Authorities have been directed to assess road distances, estimated travel times and actual road conditions to ensure the smooth and secure movement of the President’s motorcade.
In view of the visit, the district administration, police and other concerned departments are coordinating preparations related to road conditions, traffic management and security arrangements.
According to sources, around 65 platoons of police personnel are likely to be deployed to ensure security during the President’s two-day visit.
