New Delhi, Aug 13: Preparations are in full swing in Delhi as the nation gets ready to celebrate Independence Day. The city’s security measures have been significantly strengthened around key landmarks and venues to ensure a smooth and safe event.
Dinesh Kumar Gupta, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Delhi Police, explained the security restrictions. "From 10 PM last night, we imposed restrictions at the city's borders, prohibiting the entry of commercial vehicles. These measures will remain in effect until the arrangements at the Red Fort are complete," he said.
He also highlighted additional precautions along the ring road near Raj Ghat due to the movement of VIPs. "We have set up restrictions on the ring road leading to Raj Ghat as this area will see the movement of important dignitaries."
Reports indicate that a number of school and college students will be participating in the Independence Day parade. One student, participating in the full dress rehearsal at the Red Fort, shared her experience with ANI. "We have learned how important discipline is for the big day. We understand when our Prime Minister will arrive and how to greet him," she said.
She further added, "We've also been taught how to remain calm, as we will be standing or sitting for extended periods. It's an honor to wake up early for this event, knowing that we are contributing to the country’s celebration."
With heightened surveillance and security checks across major streets and intersections, the Delhi Police is ensuring that all necessary precautions are in place ahead of the national celebration.
