Bhubaneswar: In a major development, Cuttack-Choudwar MLA Pravat Ranjan Biswal on Wednesday said he would not contest polls this year in view of a chit fund case pending in court against him.
“I have decided not to contest polls this time as a case is pending against me in the court. I have taken this decision to keep prestige of my party intact and not to cause any harm to my leader (Naveen Patnaik)’s clean image,” said Biswal.
He informed that he has already written to his party (BJD) supreme Naveen Patnaik regarding his decision.
Biswal was allegedly involved in the Seashore chit fund case and is currently on a bail given by the Supreme Court.
