Bhubaneswar, Jan 27: Former PCC President Prashad Harichandan will not contest the 2024 general election. Prashad informed the media personnel on Thursday through a press conference. During media interaction, Harichandan said, “I will not be away from direct politics. However, I am not going to depict my candidature for the post of Legislature in the coming general election.” Responding to the questions regarding his merger, Harichandan tactfully side-stepped it and said, Odisha Congress should fight the ensuing panchayat elections unitedly. However, he said that he is not fielding any candidate for the Satyabadi Zilla Parishad in the coming three-tier panchayat election. Worth mentioning, speculations are doing the rounds in the state-level politics regarding Harichandan that he is making a secret deal with the ruling BJD. At the same time, he is in search of a better opportunity from other parties.
