Bhubaneswar: Pragyan Mishra and Devanshi Sahoo became champion in the Khordha District U 7 Boys and Girls Championship-25 respectively at Venkateswar English Medium School, Infocity Area, Patia, here on Thursday.
In the boys section Pragyan Mishra of Mother's Public School, BBSR became champion by scoring four points out of four rounds. Gourav Gourinandan Dash of Sai International School, BBSR and Aditya Yuvan Sahoo of Mother's Public School, Khandagiri became 2nd & 3rd by scoring three points each.
Rachit Senapati of DAV Public School, Chandrashekharpur, BBSR , Aadi Ayushman Mohapatra of Mothers Public School, BBSR and Jigyansh Kumar Sahoo of Satya Sai English Medium School, VSS Nagar, BBSR became 4th , 5th and 6th respectively by scoring three points each.
In Girls section Devanshi Sahoo of Loyola School, BBSR became Champion by scoring 3.5 points out of 4 rounds. While Aaradhya Moharana of Swamijee Public School, BBSR and Krisha Kapari of Carmel English Medium School ,Khordha became 2nd & 3rd by scoring three points and 2.5 points respectively. Top three players of each section will qualify for the Odisha State U 7 Boys and Girls Championship later in this month.
Chief Guest Surya Prakash Pati, Chairman, Venkateswar English Medium School and Guest of Honour Dr. Deepak Mahapatra, Medical Officer, Department of Internal Medicine, Utkal Hospital, Bhubaneswar graced the valedictory function by distributing a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 with attractive trophies and chess books to the deserving awardees.
Among others Subhasis Patnaik, Secretary,KDCA, Swayangsu Satyakam, Member, KDCA, Dr. Susanta Sarangi, Member, KDCA and chess Senior coach Sarbeswar Sahoo were also present. The Championship was officiated by IA Bhabesh Mohanty and SNA Dr. Susanta Sarangi.
