Chandigarh, Dec 3: Ahead of Punjab assembly elections early next year, popular Punjabi singer and rapper Sidhu Moosewala joined the Congress on Friday. He joined the party in presence of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief Navjot Singh Sidhu. The 28-year-old singer is likely to contest in the upcoming Punjab Assembly polls. “He might contest from Mansa or Maur,” said a senior Punjab Congress leader. Sidhu Moosewala is also known as one of the most controversial Punjabi singers, openly promoting gun culture, glorifying gangsters in provocative songs. Last year, he was charged in an FIR with promoting violence and gun culture with his song "Sanju". The case was filed after images showing him firing an AK-47 rifle at a firing range during the Covid-19 lockdown went viral.
