Bhubaneswar, Oct 26: The blame game over the murder of a 24-year-old school teacher, Mamita Meher continues in the state with the BJP and Congress attacking the ruling Biju Janata Dal for shielding the master mind behind the incident.
BJP’s national spokesperson Sambit Patra on Tuesday condemned the incident and called for a nationwide movement for justice. Demanding a CBI inquiry into the murder case, Patra said, “The way an innocent girl was treated in the Kalahandi district of Orissa, was unfortunate. She was murdered and her body was brutally mutilated. We believe that the nation should come to know about this heinous murder.”
Patra further said, ” Dibya Shankar Mishra, a minister in the Odisha government, is also involved in this episode. From time to time exploitation of women in schools and the role of ruling party leaders in shielding the culprits are coming out in the media.”
Informing that the BJP will send a three-member fact-finding team to Odisha, Patra said that party president JP Nadda has taken the decision to send the team.
Meanwhile, a 15-member team of Odisha BJP met Mamita’s family members in Kalahandi and held a discussion with them.
Demanding the removal of minister Mishra, Congress also held protests and gheraoed the DIG office. Besides, members of Kalahandi Congress staged a sit-in protest before the collector office demanding justice to the family members.
On the other hand, the BJD hit back at the Opposition saying “they are politicizing the issue keeping the upcoming polls in view “.
