
Bhubaneswar, Oct 11: Odisha will observe Polio Day on Sunday, October 12, across several districts and urban municipal corporation areas as part of a nationwide campaign to eradicate polio.
The districts where the campaign will be conducted include Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak, Boudh, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, Khordha, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Sambalpur, and Sundargarh. In addition, all areas under municipal corporations in the state will also participate in the immunization drive.
As per the Health Department's notification, oral polio vaccine (OPV) drops will be administered to all children from birth up to five years of age. The drive aims to ensure total elimination of polio from the country.
Parents and guardians have been urged to take their children to the nearest health center or polio booth on the scheduled date to ensure they receive the vaccine. The Health Department has also deployed mobile teams to ensure no child is left behind.
