Police recovers Rs 1.29 lakh in two separate cyber fraud cases

Bhubaneswar, Mar 9: The cyber crime help desk have helped two victims of cyber fraud to recover Rs 1.29 lakh. Police said that the victims identified as Debashis Mallick and Naresh Chandra Mishra have been duped of Rs 70090 and Rs 74000 respectively through online fraud. While Mallick was duped after installing remote access control app on 26 February, Mishra was cheated after he installed similar app to extend the validity of his mobile number. Mishra was duped on March 6. “ Mallick was searching for number of mobile service provider when he got two numbers and called those numbers. The fraudsters then pretending to be the representative for the same organizations asked the victim to install an app from play store namely Anydesk (remote access app). As soon as he installed the app, the fraudsters took access of his smart phone and duped him of Rs 700090,” said an official.
