Bhubaneswar, November 10: On the eve of the URS festival at Dhamnagar in Odisha's Bhadrak district, Dr. Satyajit Naik, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Eastern Range, assessed key locations, offering guidance to the police on maintaining law and order during the celebrations.
Dr. Naik emphasized the importance of a peaceful and harmonious celebration, instructing the local police to prioritize security, safety, and communal unity throughout the festival.
He commended the Bhadrak police for their dedicated preparations and extended his wishes to the community for a celebration marked by peace, love, and unity.
The annual URS festival commemorates the death anniversaries of revered Muslim saints across South Asia. Devotees gather at the saints' tombs to offer flowers, chadars (ceremonial sheets), and participate in Qawwalis (devotional music), seeking blessings known as "barkat."
