Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police Association (OPA) today threatened to wear black badges during duty hours from January 31 if the Government fails to address their six-point charter of demands.
The demands included abolition of disparity existed in the grade pay among the ASI, SI and Inspectors, introduction of medical allowance and investigation fund, regularisation of jobs of contractual Constables, and halt to direct recruitment of police officers in the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police in the Odisha Police Service cadre.
Association president Satyajit Mishra said that they will wait till January 30 for the Government to act positively on their demands. Failing which, Mishra said, they would discharge duty by wearing black ribbons from February 4, during the Assembly Session.
The association alleged that though they had apprised the Government about their demands on several occasions earlier, nothing tangible has happened as yet.
