Bhubaneswar, April 10: The MBBS student of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar, Suhail Aijaz has gone missing from the campus for over three years. Police have found no clue regarding him so far.
Suhail Aijaz, a resident of Kupwara district in the northern state, was pursuing his MBBS second year at AIIMS Bhubaneswar in 2018.
He left AIIMS hostel for his home on February 9 and went missing since then. He neither turned up to the hostel nor reported his family.
As a result, the AIIMS authorities lodged a missing complaint with Khandagiri police on February 18, a day after his scheduled date of returning to the institute. The parents were also informed of the incident.
Coming to Bhubaneswar, Suhail’s father Aijaz Ahmad Kataria told Khandagiri police that Suhail has not come to home. However, he last spoke to Suhail on February 6. Suhail had called him to ask for some money to be deposited in his account.
Basing on it, police initiated investigation from the AIIMS hostel. Police recovered a hand note from his hostel room, which contained “I quit and please forgive me.” The note also said, “I was happy with my friends.”
He had informed AIIMS authorities that he was going to Chandigarh with his friends to attend a wedding ceremony. He would be back on February 17.
Working on the clues, police tracked the mobile of Suhail and found the location near Howrah in West Bengal, following which a team of Odisha police left for Howrah, but in vain.
Odisha police took help of the Howrah police and the CID West Bengal to trace Suhail at their end.
Apart from it, Odisha DGP took the help of DGP Punjab and Jammu-Kashmir to expedite the search operation.
The incident was also shared in the social media in order to source information on Suhail. But, police could get no spectacular response.
Relying upon an informant of Rajasthan, Odisha police went to Delhi to trace Suhail out. All efforts of police also failed there. On the other hand, Suhail’s family and friends have failed to find him after a frantic search from their side.
