POCSO court awards 20-year RI to man on rape case in Cuttack

Cuttack, Jan 29: A special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) court in Cuttack has awarded 20-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) to an accused for raping a four-year-old girl in 2019.
The convict has been identified as Jitendra Sahoo.
According to sources, Sahoo had raped the minor girl on February 27, 2019. He was then arrested and forwarded to court.
After nearly three years, the court has convicted him and sentenced him to 20-years of rigorous imprisonment.
The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on the convict and ordered the District Legal Services Authority to provide Rs 4 lakh to the victim as monetary compensation.
