
Bhubaneswar, Sept 17: Digitalisation, propelled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship ‘Digital India initiative’, has brought significant changes to the lives of every Indian, speakers said during a seminar organised at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) Deemed to be University in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
The seminar, titled ‘Digital Transformation and Innovation—Empowering Citizens in the New Era’, was organised to mark the 75th birthday of PM Modi.
Speakers highlighted how digital technologies have revolutionized sectors such as communication, education, healthcare, agriculture, and finance.
Digitalisation has transformed communication, education, healthcare and other areas of daily life while increasing efficiency, Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of the University, said.
Stating that PM Modi’s way of functioning had touched the lives of people, Prof. Nanda wished him a long and happy life.
Giving the example of UPI transaction, the Vice-Chancellor said it had made the economy more efficient. The APAR ID introduced for students was also making a big difference, he said.
Prof. (Dr.) Neeta Mohanty, Pro-Vice Chancellor of SOA, said that the Prime Minister had showed the way in expanding digitalization.
Addressing the event, Prof. (Dr.) Sanghamitra Mishra, Dean of Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, said digitalization had greatly impacted areas like tele-medicine and tele-ICU for the benefit of the people. This has become possible only because of the efforts of the Prime Minister, she said.
Prof. Santosh Kumar Rout, Dean of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, said the Prime Minister’s unique ‘Man Ki Baat’ program had touched the lives of people in every sphere.
The program was also addressed by Prof. Ayasa Kanta Mohanty, Dean of the Institute of Business and Computer Studies (IBCS) and Prof. Pratap Kumar Sahu, Dean In-charge of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPS). Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare) conducted the program.
