Varanasi, Aug 2: In a significant development aimed at strengthening India’s rural economy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to release the 20th installment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi scheme from Varanasi today. Over ₹20,500 crore will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of over 9.7 crore farmers across the country, as part of the scheme’s 20th installment.

In addition to this, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 52 key development projects worth a staggering ₹2,200 crore. These projects span various sectors, including infrastructure, power, water, and cultural heritage.
During his visit, PM Modi will inaugurate major infrastructure projects such as the widening and strengthening of the Varanasi-Bhadohi road and Chhitauni-Shool Tankeshwar roads. He will also lay the foundation stone for a Railway Overbridge at Hardattpur, aimed at easing traffic congestion on the Mohan Sarai-Adalpura road.
Aiming to enhance the power infrastructure in the region, PM Modi will initiate works worth over ₹880 crore under the Smart Distribution Project and the undergrounding of electrical infrastructure. He will also inaugurate the redevelopment of 8 riverfronts and lay the foundation stone for water purification and maintenance works at various kunds. Additionally, four floating pujan platforms will be installed to enhance religious tourism.
As part of the ongoing Jal Jeevan Mission, the Prime Minister will inaugurate 47 rural drinking water schemes, further improving access to clean water for rural populations.
Varanasi, which has long been a hub of spiritual and cultural significance, will also benefit from new initiatives in education, healthcare, tourism, and cultural heritage, which aim to elevate the city’s overall development. These initiatives are designed to ensure holistic urban transformation, cultural rejuvenation, and enhanced connectivity, improving the quality of life for the people of Varanasi.
The Prime Minister will also address a public gathering during this event, outlining the importance of these developments for the region and the nation.
