Bhubaneswar, October 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute at Info Valley-II in Jatani, near Bhubaneswar, marking a significant step towards strengthening India’s digital financial infrastructure and cybersecurity capabilities.

The Prime Minister arrived in the Odisha capital after concluding his visit to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. He was welcomed at the Jatani helipad by Governor Braj Mohan Ram, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and other dignitaries.

Built at an estimated cost of around ₹170 crore, the state-of-the-art data centre is designed to enhance the security of critical financial data and improve the resilience of India’s digital financial ecosystem. The facility will support mission-critical RBI operations, including payment and settlement systems, ensuring greater security and reliability in the country’s financial infrastructure.

The accompanying Cybersecurity Training Institute will focus on specialised training and research in cybersecurity, enterprise computing and emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and quantum computing. It is expected to strengthen technical expertise and equip professionals to address evolving cyber threats and technological challenges.

The twin facilities are expected to bolster the RBI’s technological capabilities while contributing to the safety, stability and resilience of India’s rapidly expanding digital financial ecosystem. Their establishment in Jatni also underscores Odisha’s growing role in the country’s technology and digital infrastructure landscape.
