PM Modi inaugurates museum in memory of Birsa Munda in Ranchi

Ranchi, Nov 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated a museum in memory of revered tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda in Ranchi on his birth anniversary. The Prime Minister inaugurated the museum via video conferencing. The museum is situated at the Old Central Jail in Ranchi where the tribal icon had breathed his last and a 25-feet tall statue of Birsa Munda has been installed there. The memorial park has been developed on 25 acres of land and has many entertainment facilities. It will also highlight other tribal freedom fighters like Budhu Bhagat, Sidhu-Kanhu, Nilambar-Pitambar and many others. Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said Bhagwan Birsa knew that tempering with diversity, ancient identity and nature in the name of modernity is not the way for welfare of the society. At the same time he was a supporter of modern education and had the courage to speak against the inadequacies of his own society, he added.
