Bengaluru, Aug 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a one-day visit to Karnataka, where he is launching a series of major transport and urban infrastructure projects. As part of the visit, he flagged off three new Vande Bharat Express trains at the KSR Railway Station in Bengaluru.

The newly launched routes include:

  • Bengaluru to Belagavi (Karnataka)
  • Amritsar to Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (Jammu & Kashmir)
  • Nagpur (Ajni) to Pune (Maharashtra)

These high-speed trains are expected to significantly improve travel comfort and reduce journey time for commuters, particularly benefiting passengers in North Karnataka who have been eagerly awaiting the Belagavi connection.

Following the railway inauguration, PM Modi also flagged off the Yellow Line of the Bangalore Metro. He took a brief metro ride from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Electronic City, marking the start of this important corridor that connects one of India’s largest IT hubs. The new line is expected to ease congestion along the busy Hosur Road, which links Karnataka to Tamil Nadu.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for Phase-3 of the Namma Metro project. This phase will add over 44 kilometers of new routes and include 31 elevated stations. With an estimated cost of ₹15,610 crore, the expansion will take Bengaluru's total metro network to 220 kilometers upon completion, significantly improving urban mobility in the city.

Additionally, PM Modi is set to inaugurate and initiate several other urban connectivity initiatives in Bengaluru and will address a public gathering during his visit. These infrastructure upgrades aim to support the city's rapid growth and improve ease of living for residents.
